August 31st - Canary Wharf Britannia Hotel Protest(s)

Here are my photos of a mostly peaceful set of demonstrations around the Britannia Hotel in Canary Wharf from midday till well into the evening. The midday demonstration lasted roughly two hours before the majority of the crowd had left. I few on the "right" side hanged around as word of a second demonstration got spread between protesters, police and press. The second demonstration descended into a small scale disorder. Although I received no direct threats I was on the end of mild taunting and camera blocking at the later demo but at the end of the day take it on the chin and move on. I managed to get pepper sprayed by the Metropolitain Police after an officer pressed his panic button. A 11 year old got caught within this and got sprayed with the pepper spray. The protest ended in various the main demonstration getting kettled and slowly being allowed out. Overall, the pink ladies were peaceful it was just the men in balaclavas who caused the majority of scenes in the shopping centre.
