August 24th - Notting Hill Carnival, Children's Day
The first day of Notting Hill Carnival kicked off with the Children's Day. A day with lots of music and dancing and filled with what I can only describe as vibes. Besides a bit (or a lot) of drug usage I saw no other crimes take place at the event however the Metropolitain Police (alongside supporting forces) still made 200 arrests with a mobile police station set up near Ladbroke Grove Station. However, for my first carnival experience it was lots of fun, and I never felt particularly unsafe at any point through the day.
